Apparently my artist life started with coloring on the walls as soon as I could walk. My earliest memories are of sitting at a munchkin-sized table with pipe-tobacco cans full of crayons and pencils and blunted scissors.

With a career as a commercial illustrator, teacher, and exhibiting artist, I’ve rarely gotten far from that little table. I now have the clean studio, the painting studio, and the clay studio, each full of art supplies and tools, reference materials, sketches, and inspirational tidbits. My happiest days are spent having conversations with these materials. Learning, experimenting, and problem solving always keep things interesting. Ideas breed ideas and there are always new stories to tell and old stories to see through new perspectives.

I found my path early and it has been crooked and fascinating, scary and rewarding, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Color me grateful.
